Ball Valves
Ball valves, one of KITZ’s main products, offer a lineup of valves compatible with a variety of materials. We also produce metal seats that support special lines and can handle operating temperatures up to 500°C, as well as Λ (lambda) port valves that can be closed and controlled to accommodate slurry fluids. We apply standards such as ANSI/ASME and API,MSS,ISO,DIN,JIS to supply worldwide.
Ball Valves applications
The use of ball valves is extremely wide, and there is a tendency for demand to increase even further in the future.
- Electric power industry and natural gas pipelines
- Petroleum refining and petrochemical plants
- General chemicals, machinery plant equipment and facilities
- Building Equipment
- Irrigation and pollution prevention
- Water and sewerage and gas supply for general households
Basic characteristics of ball valves
Low fluid resistance
Since the flow passage of the ball valve is the same cylindrical shape as that of the pipe, the flow is smooth, and it is a valve with extremely small fluid resistance among various valves. (Full bore type ball valve)
Easy automation with actuator installation
The ball valve is suitable for automation because it is fully opened and fully closed with a 90° rotation. We have standardized actuators for both pneumatic type and electric type, and we have made an appropriate and efficient response to the nominal valve diameter, operating conditions, etc.
High sealing performance due to soft seal structure
The valve has a plastic sheet on the primary side (inlet) and secondary side (outlet) of the fluid around the ball. When closing, the ball is pushed against the fluid pressure, and the ball acts as a sealing force against the secondary side sheet. (Floating type ball valve)
Valve shape is compact
Ball valves are nearly spherical in shape as compared with general sluice valves and ball valves, and their height, weight and compactness compared with those of the same nominal diameter make them also small in stress applied to piping, making them suitable for mounting in limited narrow spaces.
Open/close operation is 90° rotation type and simple
For general gate valves and ball valves, the handle must be rotated back and forth 10 times to fully close the valve from fully open, but the ball valve only makes a quarter turn (90°).
Easy maintenance
The structure of the ball valve is relatively simple, and it is easy to disassemble, assemble and maintain because of the small number of parts.
